An 8-week course geared towards storyboarding for film, games, and animation. Students will focus on fine-tuning ideas, characters, and create their own professional storyboard sequence

Course Overview

Create and fine-tune a sequence from scratch

This is an advanced storyboard class. Students will be storyboarding through the entirety of the class and will ideally come out with three completed storyboard samples, as well as a strong storyboarding skillset for TV or Feature animation. The style of the class will focus on cinematic film-making but will apply to all genres.


Course Format:   Custom
Lecture Type:   Live and recorded | Group lectures will last between 1-2 hours each week
Feedback:   Recorded (all lectures and critiques will be recorded for later viewing)
Duration:   8 Weeks
Assignment:   Due each week. Recommended time per week spent on homework: 4-8 hours, depending on your skill level and the difficulty of the assignment
Q&A:   Included at the end of live lectures
Materials:   Any drawing tools that will make fast, clear, professional-looking drawings (ie: pencil, marker, etc.) Wacom (or similar tablet), Photoshop, Storyboard Pro, TV Paint, Sketchbook Pro, or similar.
Skills level:   Intermediate
Prerequisites:   Students should have a good foundational understanding of storyboarding, shots, perspective, and character drawing.

Kevin Reed has worked on various television shows as a storyboard artist (The Tom and Jerry show, Niko and the Sword of Light). He is currently storyboarding for an animated feature film coming in 2020.
